I was Wrong!

What is the difference between right and wrong or good and bad? ANSWER: You! In life we are faced with many opportunities. It is during these moments that the decisions we make leave lasting impressions and define who we are and that which we will become. Whether the choice we make is right/wrong or good/bad, is not as important as what we do next after that choice is made. I often tell my players that it is what we do next which defines you as a player/person. When you realize you made a mistake or simply choose the wrong direction it is what YOU do next that really counts.

So this leads me to the following: I had made up my mind about a travel softball organization which over the past few seasons I was not as favorable towards as some others I might have spoke more highly of. I felt this way based on some selfish reasons but really more on my ignorance and lack of tactfulness. Well this past weekend I came face to face or head to head with this organization and it humbled me. The class, respect and dignity which was demonstrated by these folks I found to be simply impeccable. From their players to their parents and to their coaches on the field, I stood by and watch a very classy bunch. After the game I left unable to enjoy the results as much as I would have liked because I was so dishearten knowing I had made mistake (these past few seasons) in judging these folks I did. To say the least I was moved by this event and even more so by the people I was in contact with who showed me by their actions the truly good folks they really are.

I was wrong! So as I tell my players: “What you do next is the defining moment” thus for me its taking corrective action as I move forward. So to the Twisters Organization, its players, family, coaches, and the folks who give so much of their own to make it work I owe you an appology for you guys are a great example of what travel should be for the girls. Congratulations for winning the Mustang Roundup Championship in the 12u division and thanks for doing it with tremendous class along the way.
